In the summer of 2019, the Fondasyon began teaching young adults how to do cooking and baking. Not only are these important skills for anyone to have, but they can become a way for them to earn money. They could work in a bakery in Borgne, or for an institution that serves food, such as the Fondasyon itself. Haiti has a rich culinary history and diverse and delicious flavors – around the world, Haitian cuisine is becoming popular in up-and-coming restaurants – so these beginning lessons could also lead to a career someday as a chef in a larger Haitian city or beyond.
