VOLUNTEER

I visited Borgne in 1998 with Project HOPE to help a group setting up a new mill that would improve the quality of the rice they sell, allowing for a higher price. During the visit we attended mass every day and lived in the building next to the church. The simple songs sung at mass still resonate in my head. A poinsettia tree bloomed outside the church. The people inspired me. Many of them offered to pray for us. People with so little material wealth, richer than we are in spiritual wealth.
